Kristi Sanford I first became involved in education outreach while I was an undergraduate at the University of Washington. In March 1998 I participated in the Chemistry Department's Science Service Learning course, and was able to volunteer in Seattle area high school classrooms performing DNA sequencing experiments. I began working as Program Assistant for the High School Human Genome Program in May 1998 and continued in that position through my senior year at UW. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology in June 1999, and am now the Program Coordinator for the High School Human Genome Program and also help with the GENETICS Project. Since my graduation I have enjoyed many opportunities to interact with students both as a part of my job and in volunteer opportunities such as the Department of Molecular Biotechnology Education Outreach Family Science Celebrations and as a Bryant Elementary Science Fair Mentor. Although I thoroughly enjoy working with teachers and students, I have always loved animals and hope to attend Veterinary School in the future. Much of my free time is spent working and volunteering in both a small animal clinic and a large animal hospital. While I have worked with dogs, cats, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas and alpacas, I enjoy horses the most. |
